This is the starting point, but at the same time, it is also the future. The creation of the scenery starts the moment the first drop falls onto the paper. From there, the whole universe is magically created in black and white. This series follows and respects the traditional calligraphy spirit of instantaneous art.
It is the morning at the circus venue. One can see the “letters” coming out of the “toy box of words.” In this series, the “letters” are dressed in different colors, jumping around and enjoying their freedom.
With the sound of lithography machines in the background that has been continuously working for 150 years, these works were created at Idem Paris, the atelier with a historical ambiance, where Picasso and Matisse also once used. The experience at this atelier became an important opening to a new chapter of Suitou’s creative process.
This series of three-dimensional works are created with wires all by hand. The draft drawing is made first, and the wires are created based on the draft. Then, another drawing is made based on the wires. Through the repetitive process of these steps, there was a discovery of new scenery each time.
The designs Suitou created for logos and packaging of various products. The designs were inspired by the brand philosophy, also respecting their originality and images.
The other works include Munny dolls with the kanji characters of Kukai’s saying of six elements (earth, water, fire, air, space, consciousness), works using iron, and others.
